I had an amazing conversation with one of my good friends yesterday. Did you know that it takes approximately 5 years for a bamboo to bloom? You plant a seed, you water it years after years and nothing sprouts during the first five years and then on the fifth year it grows to over 80 feet tall in ONLY six weeks.
I think the bamboo story is such a great analogy for anyone who’s pursuing a creative career. So many people quit their dreams because they think it’s not going anywhere when you’re actually laying the foundations for something bigger than yourself. We never see all the work underground but every experience you go through: disappointments, failures are meant to happen they are part of the process, it doesn’t mean you should give up. They are there to solidify your roots, build your structure so that one day you can soar as high as you possibly can.
We live in a society where people want everything immediately but we have to understand that it’s only when we’re rooted in the ground that we can really grow. Keep pushing, don’t quit – Time is so much more important than you think. Keep watering your goals, even if you don’t know how much efforts it will take, you’re sharpening your vision and will end up exactly where you need to be.
